Will provide an in-house AT&T Datalake (Hadoop) for DTV Engineering, eliminating the need for Amazon Web Services (AWS). The primary migration is AWS functions into the ATT datacenter. Migrate DTV Engineering functions that currently reside on Amazon Web Services to AT&T-managed. All the video processing, gaming ,STB services , applications and recommendation service to our users will move to datalake for better management .

With the ever growing volume of content, standard search and browse models are no longer sufficient. A cross-device recommendations engine is needed to assist users in content discovery. An intelligent system will help us improve the user experience, generate increased revenue (Amazon’s recommendations system accounts for between 20-30% of revenue), and content consumption (recommendations generate the majority of viewing on Netflix 85% and YouTube 60%) as well as the perceived value & customer attachment to DIRECTV. The goal of Recommendations is to provide users with easy and near-immediate access to content that will be of interest to them based on their taste profile.Users should clearly understand why content is being recommended for them and enjoy engaging with rating content in order to improve recommendations. Content Providers have increasingly licensed content across different devices in non-uniform ways, such that a given title may be available only on a device of one type, excluding all others that connect to the DIRECTV ecosystem; for example, on a STB but not on a phone or tablet. Hence, content will not be ubiquitously available across all devices. In order for DIRECTV to be able to license those titles we must be able to control access to content according to those device related rules.This project adds functionality to various systems so that DIRECTV can control access to content by device type which will in turn make it possible to license titles that have these rights restrictions which cannot be licensed today.
4K VOD BSE SE Test
DIRECTV has identified Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV or 4K) delivery of our services to customers as a priority. This exciting new technology will give DIRECTV a competitive advantage over other video entertainment providers.
The purpose of this project is to develop and prove our capability to deliver Ultra High Definition, to the home over satellite, VOD to 4K TV with built-in RVU client capability in the home. This will be accomplished by designing, developing, building and testing the technologies necessary for success.
The scope of the project is to enhance and deliver additional requirements and features for the delivery of 4K content and to enhance the 4K VOD user experience.
Live Local (ABC)
The DTV application authenticates a user by directly contacting the authentication server using the directv.com user ID and password. During start up , the live streaming app will request a list of linear channels from PGWS with the guide data necessary to populate the grid guide along with a top level channel authorization for that user. This authorization returned will be what the client uses to determine if ABC/Disney channels are part of the user’s subscription. This list will also indicate whether it is available for in-home or out-home streaming and is cached on the client for a predetermined period of time. (mobile devices and desktop client behaviours may differ) Additional metadata will be returned telling the client ABC/Disney requires a differing flow than the standard DRM process as well as being a channel that requires geo-location checks.
Live Local (FOX)
The Live TV Streaming service streams TV channels to a mobile device or PC/Mac (iPad, iPhone, Android mobile, Android Tablet) that a customer is subscribed to. The DIRECTV application authenticates a user by directly contacting the authentication server using the directv.com user ID and password. During startup, the live streaming app will request a list of linear channels from PGWS with the guide data necessary to populate the grid guide along with a top level channel authorization for that user. The FOX locals populated in the grid guide will be according to the users billing zip-code rather than actual device location. This list will also indicate whether it is available for in-home or out-home streaming and is cached on the client for a predetermined period of time. (mobile devices and desktop client behaviors may differ) In addition, it is expected that additional metadata will be returned telling the client which streaming flow to take (DRM, SDK, or API) as well as whether geo-location checks are required for this channel.
NFL Sunday Ticket 2015 – KTLO and Enhance
Sunday Ticket users can experience lean back TV experience with internet enabled streaming devices connected to the TV. They are Apple TV, ROKU and Chromecast

AUTOMATIC TOLL TAX COLLECTION SYSTEM

The aim of this project is to develop software that can be used to maintain records, automatic billing and payment regarding toll tax using image processing technology.
Designed and developed
The main objective of this project is to make Automatic Toll Tax System which reduces the manual assistance, deliver secure and time efficient solution for the busy roads. Automatic Toll Tax System maintains the database of the vehicles. Automatic toll tax collection successfully removes unnecessary traffic delays , keep an eye on any car that might not be correctly registered. Automated toll collection is fast becoming a globally accepted of toll tax collection.
Automatic toll tax system is mainly based on the Vehicle Number Recognition (VNR) system. It is in the area of image processing technology which uses efficient algorithms to detect the vehicle number from real time images. The objective is to design an efficient Vehicle Number Recognition System & to implement it for automatic toll tax collection. The system captures the image of the front view of the vehicle. Vehicle number plate is localized & characters are segmented. The system is designed for gray scale images so it detects the number plate regardless of its colour. Then with the help of the image processing algorithm it will extract the number of the vehicle. The resulting vehicle number is then compared with the available database of all the vehicles so as to come up with information about the vehicle type & to charge toll tax accordingly. Then mail is send to owner about deduction of tax from account.
