Certified Welder / Precision Machinist III-IV

This position requires United States Citizenship and a current DoD Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Job Description:
Provide welding/manufacturing and machining support for Navy weapon systems and customer equipment through rapid prototyping, inspection gage repair, and support equipment. Must have the ability to produce quality products and meet rapid turn-around requirements for gages, hardware, and tooling workload, for the Gage and Standards Laboratory in Corona, CA. We are looking for a Certified Mig, Tig/Heliarc Welder, with some Machine Shop experience. Minimum of 5 years welding experience including Heavy and Light gage Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum. Some Machine shop experience is desirable.

Responsibilities/Tasking includes:
Demonstrate cost effective manufacturing solutions in accordance with customer requirements.
Provide support to special projects for All Navy programs and Interface Assessments.
All actions are subject to regular reviews/audits by Quality Assurance personnel to ensure strict adherence to established procedures and/or processes.
Follow strict Hazmat and Safety policy guidance and adherence to established procedures and/or processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

AWS D1.1 and D1.2 Certification in welding in accordance with American Welders Society Certified Welder program.
Knowledge of welding and manufacturing theories and practices (including shop mathematics and standard handbook formulas).
Ability to work with a high degree of manual skill and work within close tolerances.
Ability to use/operate standard machine shop tools (screwdrivers, drills, pliers, wrenches, grinders, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret drawings of varying quality and specificity is necessary.
Ability to operate grinders.
Ability to generate estimates for work to be performed.
Ability to perform measurements using standard measuring instruments.
Ability to interpret inspection reports and adhere to strict Quality Control policies.
Ability to make a judgments and decisions within the framework of oral and written instructions.
Ability to Prioritize and multi-task.
Excellent Communication skills - written and verbal.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Customer service orientation.
Self-starter, Team player and conscientious worker.
Ability to design, develop and manufacture tooling for unique installations is desired.
Ability to operate and program computer numeric controlled (CNC) mills and lathes is a plus.

Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma; Science & Math College Credits preferred, or Vocational Welding / Machining Training.
American Welding Society D1.1 and D1.2 Certification, equivalent or better, is required.
MUST be a U. S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Must have great interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail is a must.

Primary Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona, CA.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
