As a Doctor's Assistant, you will be a key contributor to the seamless functioning of our hospital.
Collaborating closely with attending Veterinarians on each case, you will ensure the efficient operation of the hospital during your shift.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
Triaging and admitting patients.
Gathering vital signs from incoming patients.
Collecting brief medical histories of incoming patients.
Formulating medical estimates.
Engaging in discussions with clients about treatment plans and cost estimates.
Crafting succinct medical case summaries.
Dispensing medication prescriptions.
Equipping clients with discharge instructions and prescription guidelines.
Requirements:
The Veterinary Doctor Assistant is a key liaison between the front and back areas of the hospital.
The ideal candidate should possess:
In-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine, animal behavior, and hospital procedures.
Strong communication skills to adeptly manage client interactions in various situations.
Proficiency in Smartflow and EzyVet, with basic to advanced computer skills.
Ability to review patient treatments and charges, provide updates to clients on their pet's status, and discuss financial matters.
Basic math skills for drug calculations.
A minimum of one year of experience within the veterinary field is essential.
This position is not suitable for individuals with limited knowledge of veterinary practices.
Demonstrates exceptional teamwork skills and thrives in collaborative environments.
Availability to work during nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
Possesses a friendly and compassionate personality, showcasing empathy towards both animals and clients.
Essential Job Functions:
Thorough understanding of veterinary medicine, terminology, and medical conditions.
Engage in effective client, rDVM, and other public relations.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, specifically with Smartflow and EzyVet.
Review and document patient treatments and charges accurately.
Maintain daily communication with the doctor on shift.
Ability to create and explain estimates to clients.
Regularly update clients regarding the status of their pets.
Comfortably discuss financial matters with clients.
Utilize basic math skills for drug calculations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient telephone skills.
Familiarity with general office practices and procedures.
